當初看完這部電影後，特別找了主題曲重聽一次，仔細看了一下歌詞，寫的就是電影裡想表達的意義。

四肢癱瘓的 Will 在愛上 Lou 後和她表示自己要到瑞士結束生命，並且要 Lou 和他一起去，這是 Will 在他們相遇前就做好的打算，因為他明白以這樣的身體活著，他只會每況愈下，一天比一天痛苦，最後毫無意義，安樂死是他思考過後的決定，但是 Lou 無法眼睜睜看著 Will 結束自己的生命，拒絕和他一起去瑞士，然而她最後終於明白 Will 的選擇，陪伴他完成願望。

在電影的最後，Lou 帶著和 Will 共同的回憶繼續生活下去，即使與愛人永別很痛苦，但 Will 想要 Lou 了解，從那一天起，一切漸漸會好起來，並讓 Lou 代替自己好好體驗人生。
